Master Logic

A game of logic and concentration for 2 players.

1 board, 24 pegs each in yellow, red, orange, blue and green and 20 pegs each in white and black.

Object of the game

The object of the game is to decode the 4 hidden colours or colour code of the opponent.

Preparation

At the beginning of the game all the pegs are placed on the table. On one side of the board there are 4 hidden holes into which one of the players puts a colour code without the other player watching. The board is set up so that the other player cannot see the colour code.

Rules

1) A colour may be used any number of times in the colour code.

2) The player trying to break the colour code (the codebreaker) places combinations of coloured pegs in the rows of holes on the board.

3) The codemaker helps the codebreaker to find the code by placing white and black pegs, or no pegs at all, in any order in the adjacent holes following each suggested colour combination. A black peg indicates that the codebreaker has placed a peg of the correct colour in exactly the correct position. A white peg indicates that the codebreaker has chosen a correct colour but not the correct position. An empty hole indicates that a selected colour is not included in the colour code.

4) Once the codebreaker has found the correct colour code the codemaker selects 4 black pegs. Then the players swap roles.

5) The winner is the player who breaks his opponent‘s code in the fewest moves. The number of rounds to be played can be determined at the beginning of the game.

Variations:

A: Code holes can also be left blank. An empty hole would then be the fifth colour.

B: This variation requires two boards. Both players are codemaker and codebreaker at the same time and play alternately oin both boards. The winner is the player who is the first to break the other‘s code.
