In the collections “Games for the Pleasure of Reading”, the author, a preschool and primary school teacher-speech therapist, offers board games that help children improve their reading and counting skills, as well as develop thinking. The use of such games in the learning process is also emphasized by the new teaching content, which is planned to be introduced in preschool educational institutions and schools in the near future. Part 1 includes “Letter Domino”, “Letter Circus” and “Podziņu Game”. By playing “Letter Domino”, children learn to determine the first sound of a word and the corresponding letter. In this way, they find out what a sound is, what a letter is and what connects these concepts. “Letter Circus” helps to learn the alphabet, the sound composition of words and the formation of sentences. Counting skills are also improved during the game. "Podziņu spēja" in addition to the already mentioned helps to differentiate similar-sounding sounds, graphically similar letters, expand vocabulary and knowledge in mathematics, natural sciences, visual arts, social studies, sports and the Latvian language. All games have been tested in practice. They can be used by preschool and primary school teachers, speech therapists, mathematicians, They can also be played in the family circle.
